Any news at this point form Andy would be welcome, but given the HUGE unknowns as to when things will be safe again, I would rather punt this until 2022 myself.
There's a legal concept called "force majeure" that might be coming into play, here.slayergeek wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 8:55 pm I predict he is waiting for Royal Caribbean to announce the cancellation of all January cruises. He can't be made to pay for something that Royal has cancelled or postponed.
It's possible RC won't continue GLOBAL suspension of cruising. Allure of the Seas should be sailing from Spain in October, also some of smaller ships should be sailing from Europe. Full Metal Cruise is scheduled 23.-28.9.2020 and it hasn't been cancelled yet. So it pretty much depends on location.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 4:09 pm US death toll is still hovering around 1,000 deaths a day, worldwide we are regularly seeing close to a quarter a million new cases everyday, Florida is completely borked, and RC reckon they'll be sailing from 1st of October?
To quote a classic Aussie movie, "Tell 'em they're dreamin'"
as always you do make interesting points , with that said , I say keep it in Florida only , and just postpone cruise to early 2022 for the greater good .Cardest wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 9:31 pm Part of me wishes the 70k cruise didn't always have to sail out of Florida each year.
I cannot imagine the undertaking it would be to have the 70k cruise operate from a different
country each year, or even another state in the US.
Just wishful thinking.
I do imagine that if say, 70k was to sail out of Vancouver or Kiel it would still sell at least close to 3,000 tickets.
RC sail out of different ports around the globe. Sydney and Nassau and many more.
Florida is screwed at this point.
Easy option I suppose would be just to postpone until 2022 maybe.
What if 70k did go global. Yes or no?
What do we sailors think of that?
Why so? If 70k could be in August in Europe weather could be warm enough in Southern Europe. Fuel costs could be less between countries and cruise could be 5 nights for the same cost. Andy could even change the bands in the middle of the cruise. RC does that with performers. I don't mind going to Florida from Finland in Jan-Feb time..metalforever wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 5:29 am as always you do make interesting points , with that said , I say keep it in Florida only , and just postpone cruise to early 2022 for the greater good .
truth be told I always wanted to go to Europe , bucket list goal , but as I am getting older I do not know if I will be able to cross that off my list , if the cruise did expand like you point out , to experience new boundaries , I think I would wait for 70000 Tons to return to Florida at a later point in time . Florida is my home state and 90 % of my travels are within my home state . You do have some cool ideas and maybe the powers that be will consider your thoughts .FinnPete wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 1:33 pmWhy so? Honestly with the number of restrictions that will probably be in place I don't think we'd attend anyway. Florida is such a hot mess right now and based on what I've dealt with in my ER I don't expect it to be better in winter, I suspect it will be much worse actually.

We're doing fine :) Bored but healthy lol. I'm only working 10 shifts a month right now to limit my exposure.Jaimie38 wrote:Daenerys wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 8:02 am This RC announcement makes me think that 70k will not happen. Remember this time last year how frustrated we all were at the lack of news, announcements?
Double guessing ourselves (some of us were) and what could be the delay.
HA!
I would gladly swap this Covid crap for that.
Speculating what bands will be onbroad etc.
I miss it. Cannot believe I am even saying that.
2020 - what a wreckage.
Also sad to see LG Petrov (Entombed) fighting cancer right now too.
Ughh...
Most interesting. However, we must keep in mind that it is not a concert cruise, although they must have some live shows. Thanks for sharingDick wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 4:20 pm Well there was an article yesterday, or today, where the first Mediterranean cruise since covid took off out of Italy. Some good news that things are, sort of, turning back to normal, though the process of boarding was interesting... you took a covid test and were denied boarding if you came back positive. I'm assuming that comes with a refund, because it would be pretty bullshit otherwise. Also required to wear a mask where social distancing isn't possible. Will be interesting to see how it comes back after the trip.
Yeah, my friends and I were just talking about that. When you miss 70K's long delays in band announcements and overall impression of incompetence (up until a week before, when everything magically falls into place).... You KNOW it's been a pretty lousy year.Cardest wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 6:36 pm Sailors!
