I am a big iPhone guy myself. The Android version only came about because 1/2 the people who would use such an app are using Android. That being said, both platforms are pretty good, though iPhone has MUCH better security overall.
Google has to share too many update and patch responsibilities with carriers and phone manufacturers and the result is an absolute mess, especially on the mid to low end of the market. That's my thoughts anyway.
I also like that how my iPhone, iPad, Mac, and AppleTV interact with each other in very thoughtful ways. Nothing is perfect mind you, but I obviously have a preference, for at least myself. I am sure Android folks will chime in here with what they feel are advantages. My iPhone version saves ranking settings across all your devices using iCloud. This does not yet exist for the notes feature, but I will likely add this sometime before sail. I have no such functionality on Android, this is one of the few remaining feature differences between the two apps.
As far as my App goes, I am trying to keep them at feature parity and make them both reliable. Hopefully this year I will achieve that goal after issues with Android 2 years running.
2016, Android version did not have on ship notifications (the feature was not ready on time, so it was iPhone only)
2017 Android version crashed when offline for a lot of users (Still pissed off that this was not caught and fixed before the cruise)
For 2018 I have only one goal, have everything working smoothly this year. Everyone please test, especially in 'Use Last Years Data' mode. This simulates the current week of the cruise as far as alerts and schedules go. This way we can test stuff out more then once a year.
Any issue that are reproducible by me, I can almost assuredly fix. The ones that are almost impossible to fix are, this happened once. Or it happens every time on your phone, but not at all on mine.
Anyway, see you guys on board for 2018!
