Curious to know how many people on board have direct ties to the music or production businesses. Like what percentage of sailors are just fans vs. people that are musicians or producers, or part of some production crew.
To put it another way, how often will I be rubbing elbows at the dinner table or in the elevator with someone I would or maybe should recognize?

Good advice Pellaz, I totally agree with you. Give people their space and be polite.
But the cruise is promoted as having an "All-Access backstage pass" right on the main page. They need to qualify that in the FAQ or somewhere. Don't be a dick-head or something like that, haha!

"On this life changing adventure you will spend five days and four nights at Sea mingling side-by-side with your favorite artists in this incredibly fan-friendly scenario that has no comparison. It's having an All-Access backstage pass!"

mbob wrote:My rule is I don't bother band members or "biz" people if they are...
1) Eating or at the buffet with a plate
2) If they have their kids with them (don't think that has happened on the boat though) or having a "moment" with a significant other.
3) They are in or heading towards the bathroom
4) Are walking like they have some place to be.
5) When they are getting ready to hit the stage, obviously

There actually was a thread like this back in the early days of the cruise.

I have had a few requests to add this feature directly to the 70K Bands app, but so far have declined to do so.
1) It would have to be manually populated and maintained. (Something I try and avoid, though if a reliable volunteer wanted to provide all data, that might work)
2) It would require a lot of UI tweaking to add it in without creating a bunch of clutter
3) It 'could' change the dynamic of the cruise and instead of a small percentage recognizing people, we would have a much larger percentage of people recognizing the artists. This 'could' lead to more issues with annoying fanboy encounters.
I am probably never going to do this because of reason 1 and 2, but I would worry about 3 if I did go ahead with this.

Really nice guy. The year before I ate pizza and drank beer with Serpent from Belphegor. Also a really cool guy behind the evil black metal persona.

He seemed just as excited to meet the fans as the other way around. He was really engaged in who the fans are, where they're from and all that.
