Not really my thing, but I’m sure some folks will be thrilled.

Would love Myrkur for M, but am pretty sure she’s in studio at the moment. Maybe a surprise Morbid Angel announcement? Miseration or My Dying Bride would be cool too.

Let me make this perfectly clear.

Melechesh time? I would also accept My Dying Bride, but Myrkur wasn't exactly what I meant when I said doom metal...

Awww... Well, more time in schedule for socialising/eating/napping/seeing other bands?

I hope nekro gets thrown in anyway somehow later.

Eh, not what I wanted but alright...

My Dying Bride would be amazing but I highly doubt it, Myrkur would be great but I doubt that too

Oh my god yes! So much yes.

I was just thinking today how long it's been since I thought about Napalm Death, despite them always putting on a great show they haven't put out an album since 2015 and I even forgot to put them on my wishlist. Figured they probably weren't currently hyped enough to warrant a spot, but damn am I glad to be proven wrong. 2 setter for me for sure!

Edit: With regard to the clue, I agree Melechesh would be awesome. Mithras or Man Must Die would be awesome as well but a lot less likely. I'm thinking My Dying Bride.

    Wish list band...
Both shows of NAPALM DEATH were fantastic in 2015. Even my wife fell in love with them, due to Barney's unique stage presence.

    Cool, Napalm Death.

"M"elechesh would make ME really happy; so would Moonspell or Myrath.
"M"y Dying Bride would make my cabinmate Derek VERY happy. :beerbang:

Ok, so I did my homework with the Triple Cripper announcement...

Carnation is fucking awesome. At least one set for me to check them out.

A bit surprised with Dragony. Thought it was gonna be lame but they're not so bad for a power metal band.

Perpetual Warfare is all about thrash-metal-in-your-face, it has attitude and I quite dig it

As long as we’re doing 2015 repeats, I’ll predict MUNICIPAL WASTE for the ‘M’ band, which would be awesome, since I missed them that year.

I've spent most of the afternoon trying to figure out why Dragony is catchy, cheesy, but somehow not way too cheesy... and I suddenly realized their sound is basically Visions of Atlantis and Sabaton crushed into one band.

It's worth mentioning that MEGACRUISE still hasn’t delivered on their promise, and meanwhile 70K announced 2 bands in one day.
One month after this email, still nada from MEGACRUISE. Gee, thanks for the gift, and the BANG!
Alright, lesson learned, no promises is better than missed promises.
Yep, I think we could call half way through Jan solidly outside of "ringing in the new year" range.
I have a hunch, though. A suspicion, even, when it will be.

    SOOOOOOOOOOOON!

They sent another email today, saying in essence: “you’d better book now before the rush, because announcements are coming in a few days”.
As if announcements correlated with bookings. They’re such noobs, everybody knows it’s the other way around

I’m with you on MY DYING BRIDE, they gave me the chills last time on the boat.
Especially when it started raining, and the singer said something like “figures...” in a sad voice.

Each year, there's that one lesser known band that I've never heard of before that I immediately become a huge fan of. In 2016, it was Nervosa. In 2017, it was Allegaeon. Last year was Witherscape.

Judging by the number of times I've listened to Carnation's album since yesterday, I'm thinking they're the one for this year.

    Haha yeah

So far we've gotten "ring in the new year" and "in the next few days". I just can't handle these specifics, please give me a "SOON!" (or did Andy copyright it? ).

In about a week, I'll be setting up Megacruise playlists, then back to 70k playlists for 2020, and it'll seem like my world revolves around metal cruises.
Like some kind of metal cruise junkie.
Just need another hit of announcements.

Guess Andy worked out whatever the problem was with them. Godflesh also posted that they cancelled literally every other show they had booked, except this one. So maybe they're having some issues.

This is not the first time we've seen 70k pull out some bands that would not otherwise perform (I'm thinking of Therion back in 2017), so that's kind of encouraging.

Well then! Just enough time to check out two of those (three if I don't like one). Currently trying to decide how I feel about Temperance.

Little disappointed in the general lack of doom and melodeath this year, though the bands I'm hyped for are pretty sweet.

Andy called this the finale, but I don't think I believe him.

From a quick sample, 3 zero setters. Disappointing announcement for me. I expect a bonus band.

For reference, this was what Andy did last year before Exodus: "This makes 60 out of 60 bands for Round 8 of 70000TONS OF METAL. Sailors! We can't wait to have you all onbroad! We wish you all safe travels and we will see you on Feb. 1st!"

Sounds final. Wasn't actually final. Andy is a pro troll.

Agreed. Andy must have an additional "super band" left to announce

SUPER happy with that. A guaranteed two-setter (Temperance!) making this easily the BEST. LINEUP. EVER!

This is the first year since I've been going (2016) that there isn't a "OMG, drop everything I'm doing to see that set" band on the boat for me. There's quite a few that I'm interested in, but no one that I'm hugely excited to see that I haven't already seen multiple times before. The closest would probably be Soulfly's "Roots" set, I suppose.

Not sure if that's a good thing (because I can just hang out, be more casual, and not worry about rushing to get from show to show) or a bad thing (because there's no one I'm really looking forward to). We shall see.

Catch all you crazy bastages soon.

Now that it's back up - wow, that's some surprises.

Black Dahlia Murder gets 45 minutes (not that I'm complaining).
Dark Funeral gets 60? Pleasant surprise!
    Eluveitie is a headliner! Wow.
Rage & LMO are a headliner.... head scratch... confused... has anyone even heard of these guys before?
    Kamelot demoted to 60 minutes
Someone seems to have a thing for Visions of Atlantis playing at 10 AM on the pool deck.
All Star Jam hosted by... who?
    No Wintersun...

Some late nights, but I think I can take enough naps to make it fine.

As far Wintersun goes, sure would have been more exciting than ending it with what I consider to be four zero-setters.
