CARBON OFFSET

CARBON OFFSET PROGRAM

70000TONS OF METAL® is pleased to announce a new partnership with Greentripper Incorporated. Guests who join us in January 2025 will have the opportunity to offset their Carbon use by purchasing an optional Carbon Offset when booking their Stateroom or Single Ticket for 70000TONS OF METAL® 2025.

Guests who are interested in participating in this Carbon Offsetting program can choose to support Greentripper’s climate project by purchasing Carbon Offset Certificates during the booking process of 70000TONS OF METAL®. Terms and Conditions apply.

The Carbon Offsetting projects are examined annually to ensure that their impact on climate change is truly effective. Carbon credits are issued in this certified system per tonne of CO2 actually reduced. These credits are placed in a register and withdrawn once they are sold, to ensure that they are sold only once.

These credits are placed in a register and withdrawn once they are sold, to ensure that they are sold only once.

IMPROVED COOKSTOVES IN GHANA

In Ghana, a large part of the population uses biomass (charcoal and wood) for cooking. This conventional cooking method is inefficient, unsafe and the smoke from burning the woods causes respiratory problems. In addition, due to population growth, they have to go deeper and deeper into the forest which has led to a 60% decrease in Ghana’s primary tropical forest.

The improved cookstoves allow a reduction of CO2 of about 50% compared to traditional cookstoves. By supporting the development and distribution of these efficient cookstoves we save millions of trees, support families, boost economic activities and improve health conditions in Ghana.

The project and its CO2 reductions are registered and independently verified under the Internationally recognised Gold Standard label (Gold Standard).
