There were a few moments I winced (during Slayer), just because the sound at the theater was a bit too trebley at times (making it a bit ear piercing). Initially the sound was lower but after awhile they cranked it up for us. Wished I had some plugs in at those moments. My ears have taken enough abuse over the years as it is

This deluxe box set includes 'The Big 4 Live From Sofia, Bulgaria' two disc, region free DVD set with the full shows from all four bands along with behind the scenes and interview footage, five CD's in slip cases with ALL the music, a 24-page booklet, a poster, photos of each band, and a Big 4 white guitar pick! All music and video footage was recorded on June 22, 2010 during one of the seven Big 4 tour stops featuring Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax.

When the 'Big Four,' Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax shared a stage together on June 22nd, 2010, in Sofia, Bulgaria, it was the moment their fans had waited decades for. That monumental show was beamed live into over 1000 theaters worldwide via satellite in a special HD cinematic event.

On November 2nd, 2010, this legendary concert will be available on DVD and Blu-ray through Warner Bros. Records. 'The Big Four Live From Sofia' includes full shows from all four bands on a two-disc set as well as behind the scenes and interview footage.

In addition to the two DVD set and the corresponding Blu-ray, there will be a limited edition 'Super Deluxe' Box Set including the 2 DVD set, five CD's with ALL 5 HOURS of music, a 24 page booklet, a two-sided poster, photos of each band, and a collectable Big 4 guitar pick.

These four acts broke out of the underground thrash movement in the 1980's to dominate the metal world, selling millions of records and packing arenas across the globe. Despite huge demand, these musical giants had never shared the same stage. The legendary June 22nd, 2010, concert from the tour's stop of the Sonisphere Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria aired the same day in 79 movie theaters in the U.K, over 450 theaters in over 140 markets in the US, as well as being beamed into theaters in Europe, Canada, Latin America, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.

In December 2009, the bands announced that they would be joining forces to take part in the traveling Sonisphere Festival for only 7 shows across Europe. This one-time only event, from the Sofia show, made it possible for fans far and wide to participate in what otherwise was a very limited run of dates.

Lars Ulrich of Metallica says of this historic show, 'Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's Big Four would not only still be around, be more popular than ever, playing shows together at stadiums all over Europe, and on top of that, coming to a movie theater near you in High Definition (for better or worse??!!). Bring it on!'

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian says, 'Damn, as if this Big 4 tour wasn't exciting enough, now we get to be on the big screen worldwide! Metal at the movies, two big horns up! It is unbelievably gratifying that this means so much to the metal community around the globe. Get your tix, grab some popcorn and get ready to bang your head!'

Declares Slayer's Kerry King, 'I can't believe someone didn't make this happen 15 years ago! The fans finally get what they want. I think it's awesome!'

Says Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, 'The magnitude of this event hasn't really sunk in yet, and I am thrilled to know that people around the planet will be able to walk into a movie theatre and experience the greatest line up of Heavy Metal in the history of the world!'

As a treat to mysef for landing a job, I pre ordered the deluxe limited box set of this.

    http://www.amazon.com/Metallica-Slayer- ... 149&sr=8-3

I joined Amazon Prime club and shipping was overnight free and so I will get the set the day it comes out (November 2nd).

I cannot wait to see the whole thing, since the movie in the theater was 4 hours long and between the 2 DVD's its over 6 hours with bonus documentaries and interviews + stuff.

The Am I Evil? Jam with all members of Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax was killer. Kerry King now mentioned that he was sad that Slayer did not participate in that All Star Jam.

I will let y'all know how everything is. Wish the big four would come here. Anthrax's performance at Sofia, Bulgaria (Big Four) was amazing. The whole thing was one big party!!!

The first picture is pretty much everything.
The second picture is of the picks (of course)
and the third picture is of the front and back covers, and I think the photo on the left is the poster that comes with it.
There's more but that's all I could find for now.

Scott, sorry about your luck dude, that sucks. BUT, if it seems to be a printing mistake on the picks... you may have a one of a kind set!!!! I would look into this and find out if there was a manufacturing error, or perhaps you just won a major prize that no one knows about... like, Metallica tickets FOR LIFE!!!!

    The Big 4

    by EvilDan » Mon Jul 04, 2011 8:47 am

    Everywhere but the US.

Don't get me wrong, it's cool that people around the world are getting a big dose of the Big 4, and with Gary Holt and Andreas Kisser they're getting some unique shows, but why is it that they can't seem to do it in the States? (Have you seen the prices for the NYC show? )

Naturally, a lot of it comes down to Metallica, who really has just been -lica since Cliff died. I think they have faulty reasoning for why a festival won't work in the States, probably pointing to the one night Ozzfest in Dallas, which had more to do with a mediocre lineup, and it was only one night.

Nevermind, I don't care about Metallica. I'd rather see another Clash of the Titans (Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer) with either some established bands like Exodus and Testament, or some up-and-coming thrash and death bands, which would keep the costs down and be more entertaining. :headbanger:

Oh, and learn a new song. Metallica says they want to keep it special and fresh, but they keep trotting out Am I Evil? How about each venue/country getting a different song? They have plenty of influences, plenty of songs that wouldn't require much rehearsal time, but then again, Belladona STILL can't seem to be bothered to learn the simple lyrics after more than a year, as evidenced by the recent Gothenburg show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahs-INtU5o8

Okay, I'm just rambling. Maybe I should delete this, collect all my voices, and try again to express a clear, cogent thought. :givebeer:

I'm with ya Dan, sorta. I don't care about any of these shows, even if they were free.

I want to see Anthrax with Joey as I didn't care about the band once he left, so would love to see them again.
Slaer I've seen 5-6X, so I'm in no rush to see them anytime soon, even though I like them. It's just nothing special for me at this point.
Megadeth I've never liked, no interest. Saw them on Clash of the Titans, 1X was enough for me
That other band has been dead to me since 1989. It's even hard for me to listen to their old songs anymore, they've pissed on their legacy that badly.

All that aside I would think this would do well anywhere in the USA. But maybe they are dragging their feet to generate some "pent up" demand?

There is an interesting interview clip with Bobby Blitz & Gary Holt on the Rockhard website where the question of the Big 4 is raised. You could see how difficult it was for them to remain diplomatic on the subject.

Sorry about 3 posts in a row, but...

Why does Anthrax waste 2 songs on a short setlist with covers? (Antisocial and Got The Time) They are good covers, but they have better original material from Fistful of Metal, Spreading the Disease and Among The Living.

I think Spreading the Disease may be my favorite, but it was definitely Among the Living that was their sweet spot. State of Euphoria was different. Great tour, but I didn't even buy Persistence of Time until 15 years later. Fistful of Metal is probably my 3rd fave.
Never take anything I say seriously.

Am I Evil? I am Dan. Yes, I am!
