this just made me think of a little story.

at a previous job they were bitching about my beard. had to shave bla bla bla.
then one they they told me that the director of our american agent was coming over.
I then totally "forgot" the day so my boss went ballistic and told me how unrepresentable i looked

he comes back in the office with the director.... got a waaaayyyy bigger beard then mine LOL

There's a no beard policy at work, but ours is a legit, because we have areas that require wearing respirators, and beards get in the way of a proper seal. Still kinda sucks that people have to shave off their beards.

when i started at my current job i only had a goaty, but as i reale HATE shaving i let me beard grow back gradually.
the only remarks i got were the usual: "lost your razor?" or "you should step closer to your razor" that kind a thing.
but they all accepted it. even better, when somebody hasn't shaved for a few days days they're asking him if he's want's to be like me

don't if there are any typical remarks you other bearded guys get, but that's the usual in holland

i've heard guys get the "stand closer to your razor" thing here in the states too. however, beards are pretty common in Colorado - the whole "Mountain Man" thing is actually a "look" some guys go for here. i'm sure it'd be different in new york city than in denver colorado! we are so casual here.

I've never run into the facial hair problem at work. I think as a whole the US is becoming much more lenient with people's appearances, which is a damn good thing. :viking:

I'm glad my office is lenient too!

My facial hair, facial piercings, and long hair... all seemingly accepted in the professional world here.. Though I don't see too many people that look like me around here haha.

my tattoos and purple hair streaks are acceptable (and actually complimented) here at my work, which is pretty awesome....i'd hate to be somewhere that doesn't allow for any individuality in appearance, but i know plenty of those places exist.

Had a dream where I was attempting to shave off my beard before the cruise. I HAD to do it, but I can't remember why. As I was getting ready to start cutting, I got so upset that I vomited.

The same would probably happen if I was forced to shave it off for real.

I hadn't heard that one yet! People usually ask if my hair is real (not only when I have dreads), but then it's pink, so I can almost understand that... But a beard? Oh well, people never stop surprising me

Yeah, I've had people just walk up and yank my beard expecting it to be fake. Like that would be acceptable if it was.

This does actually remind me of one particularly witty response I had to a lady who said she LOVED my beard. I told her the best part was that it would tickle her asshole when I was eating her out. She was not pleased.

Yes, I was quite drunk at the time. It was after the Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer show, and I was inexplicably in a country bar.

Exactly! We are a much more entertaining couple for you folks when we are having arguments and teasing each other as opposed to being all sappy and lovey dovey
