This cruise already has WAY too many bands I want to watch (basically at 20) that it would be almost impossible if they added like 6 more. Definitely watching 1 full Exodus set though. Great live act even though I like to rip on Dukes........

I will be interested to see how the crowd reacts to Dukes, because Dukes is the classic "way too angry guy", and the cruise seems like it would be a much more laid back atmosphere that wouldn't be into the "way too angry guy" telling them to F off and all kill each other during and in between every song.
Wasn't Exodus on the first cruise? What was that like?

I've spoken with Rob Dukes a couple of times, and he's a great guy.

Yeah I see what you mean. The performance actually felt a little different than when I saw them with Arch Enemy a couple years ago. Maybe it was because of the reasons you mentioned Exodus actually seemed to be one of the bands that enjoyed the cruise the most. They were all over karaoke every night and seemed really excited about it in interviews and stuff.gajone wrote:Stained Class wrote:Yeah, it may have come across angry, but it's metal! Trust me, I understand that. I love Exodus (rwalters knows I'm a fanboy...I tried to argue with him that there is a "Big 5" of thrash metal bands and it includes Exodus, not just a "Big 4" of Megadeth/Slayer/Anthrax/Metallica ), and I think Dukes is great. I just think that type of frontman is perfect for the large festivals with a lot of 16-23 year olds in the crowd, but I'm not sure how well that fits at an intimate, laid back cruise where most of the patrons are older.

I'm sure Dukes is vastly different on stage compared to off stage, but that's not my point. I just wonder if he'll change his on stage persona given the environment on a cruise ship.

That's his problem. He thinks he's cool and some crazy sick tough guy (maybe he is a good fighter, I don't know or care). But his meathead antics on stage are laughable at best, and horrific at worst when you realize that he's fronting a band who had Baloff and Zetro as their prior singers.

....I would imagine that most of the cruise-goers will be people like you.....
