I would suggest adding it to the survey,but I doubt that would work out well either.The band with media presence or fans that push voters here wins,if all bands did the same campaigning it would not matter.But some of the bands/fans won't even mention it anywhere.

It might be a really good idea to create a private Facebook group that only 70K 2017 survivors can join (ask for a pic of their SeaPass card or something as proof), and then host the survey in the group.

Yeah ,that was always the goal ,not just this year.Now it is just a random popularity contest of favorite band,but is was supposed to be about a great performance from a relatively unknown band.

Hi guys, this was my first cruise and this is my first post, so I also think that having few posts wouldn't necessarily be the best thing to do, but like previous comments have said, I agree you should have a code just as with the surveys in order to vote. That way, only people who were actually on the cruise would get to vote! Maybe it's too late for this year, but I sure will be on board next year and maybe then this could be implemented?

I have to agree with the others who said the Cripper Award really should be about the bands who blew us away on the boat, not just a popularity contest initiated by the bands themselves.

OMG. This is SO rotten.

I would disqualify Total Death and Witchtrap, but again, this award has completely lost its meaning or its purpose.

I only see one way of saving it, and it is making the award a part of the official feedback survey. Let the cruisers decide the contenders, as it has happened this year, but then add the question to the feedback survey.

This has become a retarded popularity contest and I have lost all interest in it.

But, once again, Total Death and Witchtrap should be disqualified.

PS. Seeing how the voting has gone so far, I'd give the award to Dalriada right away. I didn't vote for them but they're the obvious winners among the honest contenders.

The goal is to make it only people that were on the boat vote for the band they liked the most out of the candidates - sharing it to social media invites fans that were not actually ON it to do the same thing. And people do, I've seen it. To my knowledge, only two of these bands have actually done that, which could artificially inflate their numbers, which isn't fair to the bands that didn't do that and yet performed very strongly ON THE CRUISE, which is the POINT.

If every band shared it to their followers, I'd be a little miffed at every band for it. The idea is that this is only supposed to be for survivors of 70k 2017.

I don't post much either, but I voted for Witchtrap too. They were really good if you like old school thrash. I can see why they are getting a lot of votes as this year's cruise had a thrash heavy line-up.

I do agree it should only be open for people that actually saw them on the boat though. Including it in the survey seems the easiest route.

I agree with SavaRon, Witchtrap was really good. They will get my vote. I am sure a lot of their votes were from actual cruisers.

I feel the best interests for the future of the Cripper award is to have UMC include it in the survey or send out a code for the vote.

Oh yeah, I've no doubt they were actually really good. I just want the voting to actually come from those who saw them on the boat and liked them, and agree with everyone else that the feedback survey is probably the best way to vote for the Cripper award in the future.

They had the same problem last year. I don't see a problem here ... out of 3000 people we're still only getting a couple hundred votes/year. I always hope we would get everyone to vote, but many don't understand the award - It started out with a few people who decided it would be cool to help out unknown (to many of us) to get better exposure .

Although the award is somewhat tarnished - I would let it go this year as is. NEXT YEAR include it in the feedback survey - whatever the lowest LastFM listings are SET to 7 bands - regardless. Just my 2 cents

What a fucking shame. It never was meant to have UMC involvement when we started, so I'd hate to see UMC have to put it in the survey. Seeing bands ask for votes goes against everything this award stood for. It was just a little informal way for cruisers to say, "Hey, great job on the boat! You've made a new group of fans." Also served as a good motivator to see bands you're not familiar with on broad.

I think we should just retire the damn award now.

Hi everybody, we would like to thank the 70k survivors 2017 that went to see one of our shows, or both, and voted for Witchtrap so far for the Cripper Award. also we would like to apologize for the misunderstanding, we are just promoting with the people that actually saw us onboard this year, and also for them to know a little bit more, what is this special and interesting award about. Heck, wasn't Nervosa disqualified for vote-begging in the past?

For 2018, it should be part of the survivors' survey, or maybe a separate cruisers-only poll.
I don't like having to involve UMC in it -- it's not as if they don't have lots of other things to do -- but it might be the only way.

This has become a stupid popularity contest. As we say in Spanish, it has died because of its success. It was never meant to become a big thing.

As I said in previous posts, I'd definitely give it to Dalriada this year.

It was heavily discussed but in the end even with what they did, Twilight Force ended up getting more votes, so there was no need to technically disqualify them.

as far as this 7th crusier was my very first time on board, I'm writting by very first time.
about the confusion around Witchtrap post, I realized that their post on FB they are inviting to vote on this forum only sailors that watched them on board once or twice at the 70k - 2017, so they are not inviting to vote other people different or that were not on board this last UMC.

And I'm sure everyone follows those rules.

Even with asking for only cruisers, it violates the spirit of the award. The bands should not be involved in any way with this.
