A few rooms remain at Essex House which is only a few steps further...you can make it! Even drunk!.

Call and ask to speak to their "in house reservation department" Mon-Fri 8am-4pm. Tell them you are with the "Heavy Metal Group" and make sure you get the rates shown below. 305-532-4006

Essex House $199 + tax + fee* / night

*Daily resort fee is $18.00 + tax per night for the first 2 guests and $9.00 + tax per night for each additional guest with a maximum of 4 guests per room. To help compensate for this fee, guests will receive 2 free drink tickets at check in, and one additional drink ticket for each night.

for those who attended in previous years.
do you even meet any of these bands that play on the cruise on these parties?
for a person who's never been to one of these before I just wondering.

Korpiklaani was at the beach party in 2015, I think Andy Gillion of Mors Principium Est was at the one last year. There were probably more, but that's what I knew about firsthand. But you don't go to the beach party to meet band members, you go to meet other metalheads.

I havn't seen a lot of bands at the pre-party, but I know some have attended.

I would go, it a lot of fun to hang out with everyone. Having that many metal heads in a concentrated area, we tend to take over the place and make it our own. Metal blaring from the outdoor hotel music system, etc, etc.

Events are coordinated including Live Band Karaoke, as well as other events. This is not to be missed, as I believe it is a great part of the 70,000 ton experience. I missed it my first year, because I didn't know about it. Made it the second year, but arrived late in the day so missed out on most the festivities, and have been arriving earlier every year since to partake in more of the festivities.

There were a couple of guys from Saltatio Mortis at the beach party last year. I let people in Aeternam and Battle Beast know about the beach party this year, and they sounded interested.

But yeah, it's mostly just awesome to be part of the sea of black T-shirts. I remember the first one I was at in 2015, thinking to myself "These are my people and I'm home now."

Yup. And we'll make you at home too. I got to the Riptide beach party in 2015, before my first cruise, and was immediately shouted at from across the Broadwalk. Someone I've never seen before ran up to me and gave me a hug. It was Joey/Stained Class, someone I really only knew from the forums, excited to meet me and welcome me to the family.

The pre-cruise beach parties I've been to are some of my favourite memories.

Definitely use the pre parties to meet cruisers and make new friends. You will have more fun once on the ship if you get a little crew going ahead of time.


People are really friendly. Almost no one will be annoyed if you stop to chat with them or ask something. I have some crazy social anxiety, and even I manage to mingle a bit and meet new friends. Sometimes people will just adopt you, even.

Can you meet bands, though? Yeah, but I think they need the sleep and they might come on a tight schedule.
