Shouldn't bands that receive the same number of votes be ranked the same (T-161st and T-316th or whatever), instead of arbitrarily being considered lower because of alphabetical order? Although, Kampfar is ahead of Flotsam and Jetsam, so I'm guessing at the ordering.
Where is Wilderun in the list now? Haven't seen them pop up yet, just wondering how many + they have?
This has me bummed out. Sortilege are right up my alley, give em a +1
Yeah I should possibly do that, but its just splitting hairs really :)EvilDan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 6:13 amShouldn't bands that receive the same number of votes be ranked the same (T-161st and T-316th or whatever), instead of arbitrarily being considered lower because of alphabetical order? Creeping up! I need to catchup on a couple of recent requests so they may have a few more now, but last update I did they were up to 9 requests :)
That must have been either Bodomdragon or PotatoPotahto.
They’re so good and I feel like pretty unknown
Abigail, Faceless and Vale 2 requests each, Black Crown 10.
Nice thanks! Hopefully they all get announced haha
Splitting hairs is 30+ spots. 316 sounds a lot better than 345 when there's no difference.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 12:56 pmYeah I should possibly do that, but its just splitting hairs really :)EvilDan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 6:13 amShouldn't bands that receive the same number of votes be ranked the same (T-161st and T-316th or whatever), instead of arbitrarily being considered lower because of alphabetical order? Which is why I include the number of requests :) The number of requests is the important thing. At the end of the day whether they are considered 1,762nd or 1763rd doesn't make any difference to anyone unless the band themselves caredEvilDan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 3:39 pmSplitting hairs is 30+ spots. 316 sounds a lot better than 345 when there's no difference.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 12:56 pmYeah I should possibly do that, but its just splitting hairs really :)EvilDan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 6:13 am

Why bother with a formula, when you can do like you said and look to the left? 4 requests, and the first 4 request band is at row 300. Simple. 3 requests start at row 350, etc. I would imagine there are more 3s than 4s, more 2s than 3s, and about 1000 single request bands, meaning they could be listed as 660 or 1600 or anywhere between.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 3:46 pm Which is why I include the number of requests :) The number of requests is the important thing. It's really just convenience sake that I do it that way. As I have all the results in an excel spreadsheet I'm just looking at the row number each entry appears on.
I could do a formula or something to do a 'unique count' or something along those lines at some point when I have the time though as it is kinda the 'typical' way to manage a situation where there are multiples on the same number
AH you see again that becomes a question of an almost arbitrary nature - If two entries have the same number requests does the next entry get recorded as the next number or the next in sequence?EvilDan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 6:27 am
I agree that the bands probably don't care, but you're including the information to give people an idea of their popularity. I have never run across an arbitrary, built-in deviation as a 'typical' way to disseminate this type of data. In any industry I've been a part of or dealt with, handling information in this way would be called intellectually dishonest, or just misleading, if someone was trying to be nice.
I don't know if other places do things differently, but what I (in the US) see most often in rankings that allow ties is Insomnium and Powerwolf are tied for 7th, Gojira is 9th.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 3:35 pm In the above for simplicity sake I would refer to Insomnium and Powerwolf as 7th and 8th, with Gojira 9th.
Say we refer to Insomnium and Powerwolf as equal 7th. Some would then refer to Gojira as being 8th in that case (which is the way I would prefer to do it, if I did that).
NO, bodomdragon actually because unlike YOU, HE actually submitted a full wishlist here
