I'm just gonna say it - I think you're reading way too much into an FAQ date for the payment plan as a true 'drop dead' date. Nothing, including the UMC responses, have specifically indicated that there will be announcements before the published payment plan start date - only that the payment plan will exist and will be usable.
Watch me be wrong, but I have a feeling it's not going to be before 9/25.
It’s on the Terms and Conditions page (https://70000tons.com/terms-conditions/
), and different people have posted screenshots of recent private replies from 70000tons confirming it.
They actually said that the payment plan will be available once booking opens.
I'm with Fulorian here, the terms and conditions may be updated at any time, especially since no booking is possible right now ! They are not -yet- bound by the terms displayed on the website so let's not read too much in that date, they confirmed the availability of a payment plans in the email replies but did not confirm the cutoff date for the plan..
It is believed here that as a charter, UMC must present the passenger manifest to RC at least 7 days before sailing (even though the boat itself only needs 60mn - https://traveltips.usatoday.com/cruisel ... 11374.html
), which is what governs the date of the final payment.
Previous years’ dates were also tied to the sailing date, e.g. October 19th for sailing end of January.
The fact that we are sailing 3 weeks earlier matters more than the fact that we are 3 weeks late, compared to last year.
So the final payment date of December 25th (with Christmas, New Years, payment delays, etc) is what is believed to make the date of September 25th incompressible if you still want a 4-month payment plan.
If we don’t get one, that breaks UMC’s posted terms and conditions, as well as the documented promise they confirmed to customers, unless they come up with a 3-month payment plan instead, which would be unprecedented.
Bottom line, they only have 6 days left to do business as usual, which is the appearance they have been trying to maintain, even though they have been silent for 7 days now.
