Didn't we say that we have one for the history books? Well, we do!

70000TONS OF METAL, The Original, The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, is excited to announce an Exclusive World Premiere onbroad, namely the very first live shows by Zak Stevens’ (ex-Savatage, ex-Trans Siberian Orchestra, Circle II Circle) new project ARCHON ANGEL.

That's right! Their first shows ever will be performed nowhere else than onbroad Round X of 70000TONS OF METAL sailing across the Caribbean in January next year! Don't miss this historic moment, make sure you "A"lready have your spot secured for next year.

    Image
First time they’ve announced something this early that I can’t even find on Google!
This is all I found on them.

    https://www.facebook.com/ArchonAngelBand

"A new band project born from a meeting between producer/guitar player Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere) and former Savatage and Circle II Circle vocalist Zak Stevens Circle II Circle during the making of Timo Tolkki's Avalon's 'Return To Eden' album, of which Aldo produced and played guitar and Zak did some guest lead vocals. The two soon started talking to Frontiers about the concept of working on new music together, which was met with great enthusiasm from the label. Aldo submitted to Zak some song ideas which were reminiscent of the classic Savatage sound of records such as “Edge Of Thorns” and “Gutter Ballet”. The two felt the magic was there, so no time was wasted in getting together to craft an absolutely striking metal album."

Hard to tell whether this will be good or not, since there is nothing to hear from them yet.

Looks like we're still on the A game. ARCTURUS or ALKALOID, Skipper!

yea there are a lot of As in a row, which seems weird. But then again, there are a lot of A bands. 7 in 2015 and 8 in 2017

Oh I doubt it. I get what you're saying, announce a bunch of As, then end with a massive A. It's possible.

I remember right at the start of 2017 they opened with a run of straight "A"'s, I think it included Anthrax, Amaranthe, Annihilator, and Amorphis. There was mad Amon A-hype at the time, but of course it did not result in a viking booking.

They did the same thing to start announcements for round 7. First 4 bands were ‘A’ and everyone thought they were teasing Amon Amarth. We ended up getting Amaranthe and Annihilator as the 3rd and 4th Bands. Hardly anything overwhelming.

I personally hope it isn't amon amarth, I'm just over them, especially after reading stuff on here. I've seen them too many times, and frankly grew out of them. Ignored the last few albums. I mean, if it is them, I'm fine with that. more like, eh, whatever. I hope it's one of the 8 million "A" bands I haven't seen though.

Oh fuck yeah! That's my first 5/5 band on board.

If you haven't heard them yet, their 2017 album Tarot is the best folk/melodeath album of the decade, it is absolutely essential listening if you like Wintersun, Ensiferum, Kalmah, and so on.

I kind of grew out of the whole folk metal thing, but I feel like I'll be listening to more of it in the coming months. I didn't even know they had a second album. Gotta get around to that.

This one caught me by surprise, I thought I heard they were ruled out so this is awesome I like em a lot! Hmmm G, Goatwhore or Gatecreeper would be sick and I wish Gorgoroth or Gaahls Wyrd would be an option but I don’t see that happening haha.

    Close enough?
Damn right close enough!! I love Zach and while its probably "unpopular opinion" I view Zach-era Savatage as best era Savatage.

Edge of Thorns, Handful of Rain, Dead Winter Dead, Wake of Magellan..... an amazing run of records.

Looking forward to hearing some classics from that era and some new work and some CIIC as well hopefully!

While I'm pretty happy so far with the lineup because my tastes are so varied, my son's tastes are firmly in the power metal realm. His wishlist is Dragonforce, Sabaton, Freedom Call and Thaurorod. Sabaton are already ruled out so hoping he gets at least one of the others!
