    woohoo!!!! :wank:
I actually came here to -- hopefully -- see this post.
    I was not disappointed.

Inasmuch as Devy's Ocean Machine album is my favorite album of all time AND I had the privilege of co-sponsoring his first solo performance ever (at PPUSA III), this announcement pleases me in so many tingly, happy ways.
He's also indicated that he will be returning to playing Strapping Young Lad material live, so... It could be heavy as a really heavy thing.

C is for...Carach Angren? CoB? CoF? Cattle Decap? Cannibal Corpse? Lots of good possibilities here, too.

This is a really good question and kinda tough to answer. Devy has done a little bit of everything, really. I'm thinking he might get two 60-minute sets and he may also play some of his (VERY HEAVY) Strapping Young Lad material.

I'd start with Devy's Ocean Machine CD, which was his first, entirely self-financed solo effort. It was totally a labor of love and he's said he could have bought a house with that money...but he made the record instead. It's my favorite album of all time.

Beyond that...it's a tough call. Infinity, Accelerated Evolution.... He will probably do something from the Ziltoid CDs... Whew.

Lack of power metal is making me (and my son) sad :(

CIVIL WAR would fix that. I would also be happy with Claymorean or Circus Maximus.

Years ago, seeing Devin coming on the boat would have made me buy a plane ticket and a cabin right on the spot. I'm the same as Pellaz, Ocean Machine has a very, very special place in my heart, something unique that no other album will ever have. Now, I'm not even sure I'm going to see him in Paris in 15 days, even though I bought my ticket months ago.

I just hop that he won't play a special SYL set on the boat, or I'll lose my shit.

I'm in the same boat as a few people I think. 4 years later Andy has given me every band on my bucket list except for one, and they're very due for an NA tour anyway. I can't thank him enough for that, but now I've sort of seen it all. I've seen Devin, and while he puts on a fun show I really only like some of his Ziltoid stuff and that's it.

It's hard to top him literally booking 4 of your 5 favourite bands the year before, especially when I never thought I would see In Vain.

Yay Devy! Not music I'll sit down and listen to but I've thoroughly enjoyed every live set we've seen without even being familiar with his material. Dude was hilarious at Progpower  Go to a set for the comedy show, stay for the music.

Hoping since Devy is booked perhaps something with Anneke is as well... I'd love to have VUUR onbroad!

Hell, I'd be happy with Anneke doing...well, basically anything. She could do stuff with Devy ("Grace" live would be amazeballs, just watch the Retinal Circus DVDs), her own stuff, maybe "Valley of the Queens".... That song brought the house down both times I saw Ayreon in Tilburg, where she got a sustained ovation afterwards and narrator John de Lancie had to pause the show. (Her character got a "stay of execution," too. )

Devin Townsend is a solid 2 setter for me, but I've seen him a couple times already. This stings, but not badly. For Cs the only one I hope it isn't is Cult Of Luna. It's a safe bet that it isn't them because as far as I know Andy has never booked a post-metal band before. But if it is, that would make me quite sad that I'm missing the next cruise.

I want Civil War, but it's probably Cellar Darling. Which is fine.
I'm only here to do two things: play the bagpipes and gargle sulphuric acid. Looks like we're almost out of acid.

Only C I see is ok is Civil War. CoB is out for now. Unforunately CyHra is out so is there any other band available so far who everyone else dislikes?

I'm hoping the C stands for crap load of bands. Does it normally take this long to announce bands? We're not even averaging one per day. I've been following the facebook page for years but don't recall. Obviously this is the first year I'm actually going on it, so I'm maybe I'm just following more closely and growing impatient.

Clutch, Cradle of Filth, Cannibal or Cannabis Corpse (or both...that would be fun)

Cannabis Corpse is now ruled out.

Oh you poor sweet new person :)

There is no rhyme nor reason to how our skipper announces bands!

They will come 10 at once, then none for (LITERALLY) months, they will come several a day, one every few weeks, three at once.

We may know them all two weeks before sailing, or we may find out the last bands literally the day before.

The only certainty is there will be 60 bands known on the day we sail :P

You just kind of need to sit back and enjoy the ride. Otherwise the anxiety and the suspense will drive you insane.

Yep, the trick is to enjoy the trickle of announcements, and make it part of the fun. This way there's constant hype cause you never know when a really cool band could be announced, and the way the announcements tend to be spread out gives you the chance to focus on each band named. Take the time to check out every band that gets announced if you aren't familiar with them, because Andy books some really cool stuff. My favourite band from the 2017 cruise was a band I had never heard of before they were announced (Draconian).

    That'd also please the old-school, trad-metal contingent.
Gotta love a band whose name comes from Lord of the Rings but whose songs are largely based on Elric of Melniboné. :headbanger:
