I'm wondering on a massive, wopping huge scale, that the Devin post was bumped up
the Skip's list earlier because the cabins are still available and maybe there's a a lot of those left.
Maybe that Devin was gonna be announced further into November but because cabins are still empty...
And that this may be the reason we haven't had that C band in two days now. To let everyone sink in this
    enormous Devin news.
But has it made sailors and new sailors snap up those cabins?
    Did it make a difference?

I was at Soilwork concert last night and met up with friends, who are not going 2020, but have been on many
before, suddenly, wishing they were now and trying to figure out ways to get time off and come on broad!!
So Devin has made an huge impact in that regard, in a very positive way!

I tend to agree that it may have been bumped up exactly for the reasons you said.

But just like your friends at Soilwork, for most it would be "too little, too late".

If the cruise went on sale say, in June, and Devvy was announced say, in July.... people would be "FUCK YEAH! I'm gonna pay for a cabin via installments over 3 months, and I'll save for flights and pay for them later in the year!! YEAH!!"

But now..... what? Find the (minimum) $US2,000 that a spot in any cabin left now costs with only 2 months to pay it off, and find the money for flights and accommodation, let alone get annual leave and everything else?

Maybe a handful of people can pull that off, but not many.

You just kind of need to sit back and enjoy the ride. Otherwise the anxiety and the suspense will drive you insane.
I am the living embodiment of that.
Same. Just gonna get more excited as bands get announced

If we are to go by recent patterns, this means we don't get our next C band until what?
    Tuesday?

    Uggh.

If the current trend continues, we have 16 more “symphonic something” bands left to be announced, according to Metal Archives ((5/14)*60-5).
“Symphonic” means “they have keyboards”, I suppose.

Started announcements 80 days from sailing, latest EVER. And after the first 15 days, we know 14 bands. Possibly the LEAST ever after the first two weeks (certainly in the 60-band-lineup era of 70k).

Even in years when announcements started 200+ days out we knew more bands after the first two weeks of announcements than we do now!

2019. Announcements start end August. 24 bands in the first 15 days.
2018. Announcements start beginning of JULY. 21 bands in the first 15 days.
2017. Announcements start of July. 26 bands in the first 14 days.

And if you flip that around the stats are just as damning. We have 65 days to go, and we know 14 bands.

2019. 65 days to go. 38 bands known
2018. 65 days to go. 45 bands known
2017. 65 days to go. 39 bands known

    WE WANT MOAR (good) BANDS!

Who knows, maybe CoB was the next band to announce, and they are scrambling for a plan ‘C’ to replace them?

So, unless I’m mistaken, we have just as many bands left to announce as we have week days until the cruise. With seemingly no announcements being made over weekends, I wonder if the plan was to get to this position and announce one band a day (excluding weekends) until the cruise?

Some smaller bands are traditionally announced in groups of 3. So let's wait and see.

They did make announcements on Saturday, October 19, and there’s plenty of history to indicate weekend announcements are still in the cards.

There are drawing things out, because towards the end there will be a bunch of no-name bands added, that they will add in batches to lessen the amount of bitching about "WHO THE FUCK ARE THEY?" :bitch: :P

Certainly there is LESS likelihood for announcements to be made outside of normal 9-5 work-week hours, but by no means can you rule it out.

Historically announcements have occurred any day of the week, any time of the day.

Certainly there is LESS likelihood for announcements to be made outside of normal 9-5 work-week hours, but by no means can you rule it out.

Historically announcements have occurred any day of the week, any time of the day.
9-5? What time zone? I swear, the majority of announcements seem to come late at night.
I refer to Vancouver time which is I believe is where Andy is located. If you look at the time of announcements for this year, predominantly they are 9-5, Vancouver time. 10 announcements falling 9-5, only 4 outside that.

    Cycle Sluts From Hell (reunion)
    Caustic Thought (reunion <anyone?>)

I would love Circle II Circle again but apparently they've not been asked back since 2011 which is mind boggling.

64 days to go, 46 bands to announce.

Wonder when we will reach the point of more bands to announce than days remaining, hopefully not in 18 days!

I predicted this would be either Bodom or Chthonic. If it was Bodom, the announcement that they've split (which gave ne feelings, not gonna lie) could explain why there's been a mild announcement drought.

Also possible - Andy's latest health troubles have resulted in his doctors telling him not to work long hours or on weekends. Hence few bands outside of Vancouver working hours.

I am hoping the best for good health for Andy.
With that said I hope that he has an inner circle of at least 3 people , that he can count on to assist him with all the important aspects of the cruise, band selections and so on .

I mean, he's not building a railroad here. Presumably, hes just giving the all-clear for someone to make a social media post of a band that's been booked for months. It would likely to be better for his health to get all of this secret info off his chest, and all of the angry survivors off his back, no?

+1 ,COB had another show planned after the cruise and that got cancelled. So they were obviously taken by surprise.Don’t think that they have a lot of bands booked just because they are late ,they might only have 14 atm.

Nicenice, not amazing but quite nice.

Now A, that's a nice letter, with some nice rumours attached to it. Could it be At the Gates, Allegaeon, or Archspire? Or is it too much to hope for Aether Realm or Amorphis?

Would love to see Aeternam again. Their fuck-you-o-clock pool deck set with the sunrise in the background was damn near a spiritual experience. Anaal Nathrakh or Amiensus would also be pretty awesome, as would Abbath, At the Gates, or Atlas Pain.

    So many good "A" bands!

Someone in another thread said they talked to Aether Realm and they weren't asked this year. Doesn't rule them out necessarily, but I'd put them as highly doubtful.

A has to be Arcturus or Alkaloid, although Andy's "fine gentlemen" clue makes me think of Akercocke

Yep, solid addition. Hope the show at the Dog and Badger and Ale and Anchor goes better than the last time they tried it.

A is for.... Alestorm? Amon Amarth? Aeternam? Abbath? Aether Realm? Amorphis? Allegaeon? Aephanemer?

So many good possibilities with "A".

What happened last time? I saw Eluveitie there in 2016 and it was amazing

Just pitching in that that 5 am Aeternam show was one of my highlight shows out of the 3 cruises I've been on. I loved it!

Also for A I just hope it isn't Anaal Nathrakh. I haven't seen them before and would love to. Their album "The Whole Of The Law" I think was excellent. God I wish I could go next year...

    Under A Caribbean Sun

    by Andy » Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:30 pm

Who will we see AT THE GATES of the terminal in January? Who will we sail with under the Caribbean sun?

We do our very best to ensure that 70000TONS OF METAL, The Original, The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise is a truly special and memorable experience. Onbroad Round X you will witness these legends of melodic death metal perform their landmark 1995 album, "Slaughter Of The Soul", in its entirety for one of their two performances. Now that's something to get excited about!

Wait, was this not the "A" you were looking for? Can we give it another shot?

    Wow... So many announcements.

Cruachan is one of the bands I've always wanted to see and never had the chance to. Nice one.

Based on the clues and the fact that Andy likes to book entire touring lineups (Sabaton/Leaves’ Eyes/Battle Beast, Korpiklaani/Ensiferum/Trollfest, etc), we could easily expect Arch Enemy or Amon Amarth.

Apocalyptica would be a nice addition.
