Announcements can and do happen on any given day of the week. For the 2018 cruise, they rolled out the first 6 bands on Monday, July 3.deathmetalpat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 7:14 am Sadly both Sunday and Monday tend to be no announcement days ,along with the fact Black cards are either going or they are not.At this point it is just a matter of do they want to keep their streak going ,bands don’t even matter to them and there aren’t enough of them to make a big dent in sales.Maybe a band ,Golds will be booking with 7-10 bands probably.
Yeah, rub that black card on us peasants!
You forgot the second part ,Public Sales start and the Black/Gold/Silver discount goes away ,they scheduled public sales just 4 days after Gold.Plus they did it right from the start.Plus this year nobody can hold a cabin for just a $100 bailout fee.
So the Blackies could book - what an impertinence to the "normal" all timers. And tomorrow a few thousand peeps try to book and the servers will crash. Well done, Andy.
Actually from an IT perspective this is good news. You get to test out the system under some load, but smaller then maximum to flesh out any issues and be sure everything is in good order for the much larger push of users.
My full respect for people who book with only 5 bands. At this point, I preferred to consider another Fest or event.
+1
If you compare this with the Megadeth cruise, it cheaper with more bands. So it depends on what you are comparing it with.metalforever wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 1:50 pm while it seems some folks are parting with their money very freely , with 70000 tons , even though it is one of the most expensive trips around !!!!!!!! for what you get in return !!!!!!!!!
is anyone interested in buying some ocean front property in Arizona ???????////LOL !!!!!!!!
For a lot of people (myself included) 70k is the nearly perfect package of a festival. My only complaint has been the communication (and occasionally merch) but everything else is pretty much exactly what I want it to be.metalforever wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 1:50 pm while it seems some folks are parting with their money very freely , with 70000 tons , even though it is one of the most expensive trips around !!!!!!!! for what you get in return !!!!!!!!!

Mega Cruise only delivered 20 bands? 70,000 Ton will deliver 60.deathmetalpat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 3:14 pm Cheapest Quad total MegaCruise total =$1085
Cheapest Quad total 70k =$1381
Factor for MegaCruise 108 hrs. vs. 84 hrs. 70k
Under these parameters
70k is about 63% more expensive
No discounts factor or intangibles such as quality of cruise experience (Bands ,Food, and Ship amenities)
I don’t know about the alcohol prices to compare.
70k gets cheaper as you get into better cabins
MegaCruise has only 4% pay in full discount vs. 5% for 70k
Correct - their shows were all like between 2pm and 1am or something lame like that, and at one point they had Overkill AND Metal Church AND Death Angel playing at the same time!
Its a fair call, but all our constructive advice so far seems to fall on deaf earsmetalforever wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 3:47 pm I like 70000 tons , my comments are meant as constructive to improve the cruise and improve the value the fans are getting !
Maybe the Skipper got stuck in the line to votecowboy71 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 4:00 pm Coming up to close of normal business hours Monday, and still only 5 bands.
Makes me wonder if Golds are only gonna have five?
Staff: "Hey skipper, should we purchase extra compute to handle the load of all the golds this year?"
Skipper: "Nah, I'll just give them fuck-all announcements so a lot will hold off from booking straight away"
Hopefully Andy does not cut it that close, I still need to cram the schedule into the app! But as whole, I agree. Hopefully the late start and the early date does not effect the final product. Right now, I am better it wont. Booking tomorrow morning.acidbasement wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 5:47 pm I'm ready to book. The bands are just the icing on the cake for me. Whatever kind of clusterfuck it all looks like at this time of year, they've never failed to deliver a top-shelf experience once we're all on board. I'd be fine with the final band announcements happening while we're walking up the gangplank, tbh.
...and Megacruise had Eddie Trunk onbroad...reason right there to stay awayslayergeek wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 3:19 pmMega Cruise only delivered 20 bands? 70,000 Ton will deliver 60.deathmetalpat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 3:14 pm Cheapest Quad total MegaCruise total =$1085

In many ways we are comparing substantially different productions and viewed from different angels things will look differently.
I for one am glad to give me money to 70,0000 tons on the assumption that they deliver what they have delivered every other time I have sailed with them.
I do vaguely remember that.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2019 2:21 am For all the complaining etc, its interesting to note that this is not without precedent. Admittedly in recent times we've known 10ish bands before gold opens, but in 2013 for the 2014 cruise, we only knew four bands.
And they were all repeats!
Dark Tranquillity (2011), Soilwork (Barge), Overkill (2012) and Death Angel (2011)!!
Interesting indeed. At least on the brightside, the exchange rate has improved slightly! Lets hope it continues upward!
