Anton (Marooned) and I have a hostel room booked on South Beach. Looks pretty awesome actually http://www.southbeachhostel.com/

I'm up for whatever on the Friday, as I'm sure Anton, Max, Grant will be. Gill is another 'Pegger onbroad as well. Last time we accidentally ended up walking the entire half marathon route while looking for stuff to do, hopefully we're more directed this time.

edit: shit, which reminds me, I thought last year "hey, it'd be cool to stay a day and do the marathon". Whoops, already booked an early morning flight.

Has anyone used Yeego? They seem to have great deals on South Beach, some hotels are -25% cheaper that at Expedia and similar sites.

Cool! Will have to bookmark it for when my group tries to get a hotel.

Also note for you foreigners, the US has huuuuuge sales after Thanksgiving. Most notably, Black Friday (tomorrow). Monday is also known as Cyber Monday, where a lot of online deals are available. I'm hoping that some travel deals open up for it.

Yeah, I've been waiting for some good deals on hotels. Last year we paid €30 a night per person while now the same hotel goes at €50 a night. Of course the exchange rate was better a year ago, but not that much.

What got me curious was that Yeego had almost the same prices we paid last time (in USD pretty close the same, so a bit worse in EUR). Maybe I'll wait a few days and see if there's some good Thanksgiving deals and if not, book the pre-cruise hotel (two nights) via Yeego. After reserving contact the hotel and ask them to confirm the booking. If all is well, then book for the week after the cruise.

Cool thanks guys, I was waiting for the Aussie dollar to go back up to book a hotel in Miami for after the cruise but I will see what the prices are like over the next few days.

We booked the Holiday Inn Port of Miami.

But as the naming of several other hotel was confusing me I still do not know who will be there, too (besides the thread-opener :) )
What will change in 2012 on the cruis?

      Eat less (counterproductive)
      Sleep less (waste of time)
      Drink more -> PARTY MORE

If your staying after the cruise expect to pay a little more cause there's a marathon that weekend and they always jack the price up.

    Ok, a quick update.

Just booked Motel Blu via yeego.com. We're a group of six, and got our two triple rooms (I'm guessing those are actually rooms with two double beds) for two nights for a total of ~150 euros. So under 13 euros a night per person, which is muy cheapo.
Checked the place on TripAdvisor.com, and some say it's ok, some it's not. I'm not planning on spending any time there other than sleep for the two nights, so I honestly don't care if it's not that nice a place.

Less money on hotel = more money for booze :heavydrink:

For the week after the cruise we're most likely renting a flat on South Beach. Around 160 euros per person for the week. Plus the owner said we could check in at 10AM on Friday, which would be great.

I am thinking about flying in and landing in Ft. Lau on Wednesday the 18th since I have those days off from work, anybody else going to be in Miami early? I'm thinking Beacon since it's kind of close by and comes to $350 for two nights.. prices are cheaper if the cost is split though :smoking:

Edit: I mean for Wednesday/Thursday, I'll be with a friend at Metal Hostel for the weekend :headbanger:

I've stayed at four different RIU's in Mexico, where they are all inclusive.

This RIU in Miami is the only one that is not all inclusive. Must be an American thing, where you have to pay for every bite and every drink!! Pfft!! I have not seen an all inclusive period here in the states!

Hey everyone. I have booked my cabin but not my flight or hotel yet. Would anybody on here split a hotel with me. Or if anyone is renting a beach house I'll help pitch in the money. I used this thread because it somewhat to do with hotels.

i don't recommend waiting, b-bud. most hotels don't even make you pay upfront so there is no harm in reserving now. MANY places are getting booked up already.

Re: Holiday Inn port of Miami - anyone booked

I partied last year with some Swedes who looked to have rented a condo or something. Is anyone planning on renting a big suite this year? If so, I'm speaking on behalf of two Canadians who want in when I say "we want in". Otherwise, back to the south beach hostels I suppose. Better than sleeping in the airport chapel like last year.

I'm waiting confirmation for my cabin booking, then I'll book my hotel room in the Holiday Inn, for 3 nights since the 25th January 2013. Will confirm it as soon as possible

i don't recommend waiting, b-bud. most hotels don't even make you pay upfront so there is no harm in reserving now. MANY places are getting booked up already.

Hm.... I think Orbitz charges right away but I'll look into it, thanks!

orbitz doesn't but expedia does....and anyway it's better to just go through the hotel directly most times.

Just read some tripadvisor ratings...is it really a rundown and dirty hotel? Are there better places to stay in Miami?
