Opeth i totally agree with, and
as an alternative, or maybe two alternatives:
a) MACHINE f****** HEAD
b) NILE

We did speculate about this earlier. Every fan is holding out hope that they can still make it. Unless the dates have been updated they don't enter the studio until the 31st. The timeline still fits!

Yes, pity. I've seen them live numerous times, but I too would've loved the idea of seeing them play on the ship. A few months ago (when the 10th band wasn't even announced yet), I brought up the idea to Andy Farrow. He had no idea about the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise ship. After exchanging just a few e-mails, he mentioned that it wouldn't be possible for Opeth to play on the ship being that they're very big and most likely would be busy*sighs* Oh well...
I've no complains...most of the line up is pretty good for me. Can't wait to head-bang until my neck breaks & my head falls off

Plus I know that nobody on the cruise would object to a power/folk band taking up the last spot. Amiright?

don't hope for that, it's a horribly painful death...

mooyagi wrote:I'm beginning to think that they don't have a 40th band booked yet. If this is the case, it may seriously drop the number of bands that could fill the role. With only 3 weeks to go until the cruise, I'm willing to bet it would have to be an american band. I don't know all the visa rules, but since the ship is ported in the United States, I would guess that a band would have to get a work visa to get paid for performing on the cruise. Given the way things usually move along in this country, I'm not sure that could happen in the short time between now and when we set off.
However, this does still leave Symphony X in the pool!

Scott Cameron wrote:We are about 3 weeks out now before the big event and the ship will sail. So those who have not booked, you better get booking or you will miss the boat. They just announced yesterday that TESTAMENT will be performing their legendary "The Legacy" album in it's entirety on the way down to Cozumel. If that was not enough, On the way back to Miami they will perform "The New Order" in its entire! A TRIAL BY FIRE!!!!!!!!
The countdown has begun. 39 of the 40 bands have been confirmed and the list for the event has been updated here. Stay tuned for band #40, guaranteed to blow your mind!!!!!!!!
See everyone on the 24th!!!

Seems pretty confident that the last band is a big announcement.
Oh hang on, is this Scott like Tom Cruise Scott or a different Scott?
