What bands can be ruled out for 2018?

While I do think Jarisun's studio project is ridiculously overpriced, I really don't get the hate they get for the sauna. I mean, a sauna in Finland is pretty much the standard with a bathroom and only adds like 5-10k euros to the total costs. That's like saying a toilet is unnecessary and not needed in a building.

A sauna is certainly not as necessary as a toilet, but the hate doesn't come from the sauna, that's just a funny way to refer to their 750k€ studio. The hate comes from other reasons, such as being a HUGE drama queen, not delivering pretty much anything decent since 2004, and scamming people.

In 2012 Nightwish toured USA after the cruise but in September.They started with 2 shows in Atlanta at the Center Stage.That venue has a little over 1,000 capacity and I am sure quite a few fans went to both shows.

It's also worth noting the typical correlation between venue size and the band fee doesn't always apply when it comes to ProgPower. The Wednesday/Thursday show at ProgPower is sold as a two-day pass and typically goes for around $175. Fan-band sponsorship is also part of the ProgPower financial model. So when they choose, ProgPower can afford to bring in a band who might typically might play bigger venues. The other aspect of this was it was part of a tour and the costs of travel and visas could be deferred over the duration of a tour. Not so for a one-off. Nightwish has little need to do one-offs anymore and their scheduling commitments don't typically allow for it anyway. Finally, I had the chance to do a fairly lengthy interview with John Finberg, Nightwish's booking agent for the states. Suffice it to say he only sees the band's fee as going up and up and up.

EPICA - Spoke to Mark last year and he said that cruising once every 5 years for them is enough, so it's likely that they won't be back for another few years.

Epica are definitely out for 2018. Spoke to Isaac for quite some time before the show in Seattle and he said they are touring elsewhere at the time of the cruise.

According to the dates published on their website, their last show is on January 27th. So I'd say this is pretty much the other way around, rather than being ruled out this schedule makes them a perfect fit for the boat.

I had a cool chat with urban breed from Serious Black. They were offered to join the boat in a previous edition, don't know which one, but the offer was not good enough and they had to decline. They haven't heard back from UMC so for the moment it is unlikely that they'll be onbroad. I hope this changes, though, they're amazing.
