While it's possible that Andy might be having some personal problems, it's pretty inconceivable that a multi-million dollar operation like 70K wouldn't have some sort of emergency backup mechanism in place.
Andy IS the public face of 70K and UMC, but unless he is independently and VERY wealthy, there MUST be others behind the scenes who also control the purse-strings, and I can't believe they wouldn't have some sort of failsafe in place to avoid default. Even if it amounted to "Due to unforeseen circumstances we'll be taking a year off; see you in 2021."
Highly unlikely that this operations would grind to a halt due to illness of one person. Pretty sure Andy is VERY important, but there would still be investors and staff that will keep this thing running or at least end it in a reasonable matter.
Also I cannot find ANY good reason for waiting this long. None at all. There are bands booked, the ship is chartered, so we could get this show going.
Hey if booking bands would be a problem Andy could just open up the spots to small unknown bands who would swarm like flies on a fresh piece of sh*t to get this kind of exposure. There are literally 100s of bands that would give their arms or legs to play on the 70k, the brand is still that good. And yeah I know some of them personally so I can say, all bands with no chance of being on the "normal" line up.
Logistical problems with material necessary for the boat? Stage building material, or even beer, etc.? Highly unlikely as all of this has basically been the same for some years now and is not that difficult to find replacement if necessary.
IT problems? Lost survivor's mail addresses and UMC never did a backup of the database? Or the booking systems has been renewed and the project is way behind schedule!? Unlikely if not impossible. Yet still no reason not to start announcing bands. Let the IT fix their problems in the mean time. Cruisers are happy they can discuss the first bands, all good.
Security and other staff onboard? They are under a multiple year contract and that has all been fixed ahead of last year's cruise, so no problem there.
I would really like to know what possible good reason could there be?
