I think we will likely get at least 1 bonus bands, if nothing else as a hedge against a last min Covid or other more general cancellation.

That being said, I would LOVE to get my data entry out of the way before I leave for Florida Sat morning, but as long as I am not doing it the morning before sail, it’s all good.

One year the meet and greets were not available until we boarded and I don’t think they were in the app at all due to how late things Came in. Hopefully we can avoid anything like that this year.

I don't think Andy puts as much stock in Spotify listeners and related stats as people seem to think, remember that Alestorm always got 45 min while streaming way more than most 60m and some 75m bands. Set length seems to be more dependent on legacy, influence, and a warped set of 20D, and "meme"/novelty/internet-famous bands tend to be underbilled. For that reason, plus the fact that I don't think we've ever had a headliner as late as Dragonforce, I still would give then a less than 50% chance of being it. Hypocrisy is solidly in the running too.

Ya know, that's a pretty good running order. I know we all have our unique tastes that can bring conflicts between any bands, but there's very few "bad" conflicts I can see. ("Bad" in this case meaning bands that obviously have strong fan base crossover).

Worst is Freedom Call, Feuerschwanz, and Amorphis on day 3, all are very melodic bands and Freedom Call and Feuerschwanz, while only overlapping 15 min, will have very similar fanbases for sure.

Other slightly rough ones include:

Melechesh/Amorphis day 2: both have lots of death and folk influence
Vried/Warbringer: Slightly thrashy black + Slightly blackened thrash?
Visions of atlantis/nothgard day 3: both v melodic and fun
Cynic/Vried day 4: both heavy + weird
Dark Tranquility/Cryptosis day 4: Cryptosis have a bit of DT influence imo

Any other bad conflicts in there? Not just two bands you like, but bands where Andy should have known they would have many fans in common?

My strategy for catching "inconvenient" 5:00am sets it to take a nap between 3 and 4:30am, and then go the 5am set and go back to bed afterwards. Short naps can make all the difference.

I had multiple conflicts with bands that were on my 'might' list. Several moved to won't because of conflicts. But such is life. I definitely plan to catch up on shore day, though. lol

Well, I am not going, but to be honest with you, I am rather disappointed. Except Amorphis, Amberian Dawn, DragonForce, Freedom Call and Korpiklaani, there is no other band of my wishlist. Ok, there are some bands I could have been interested to discover, but not really a playlist that could have me wish to go. And more again, with Freedom Call, the top band I would like to see, are at the venues where not suit the most to me - generally I'm not goind on the poor deck, as I'm not seeing anything and the smallest one where I see nothing -, I would not have been happy with the running order, except for Amberian Dawn

I'm going to see more bands of my wishlist the next few weeks in Switzerland. I'm more looking forward, for sure

Really looking forward to the cruise. The lineup is more than adequate imo. I am more into the cookie monster style of metal but I love Nightwish too. I never expected to see them in this context, I am super excited! I hope to meet you on the boat.

It is absolutely confirmed that a passenger had a drug related medical emergency and was transported off the ship in very bad condition via a fire rescue boat. The word the skipper gave at the press conference is that the cruiser was in stable condition being treated at a hospital. Given the fact that the patient was listed as stable, it can be safely assume that it is likely they will recover. That was the latest information at the time of the press conference yesterday at 5 PM. Obviously things can change, but the rumors that the passenger had died were untrue

Made best friends with the guys and girls from Nightmare and Deathless Legacy, got to meet in person finally the BEAUTIFUL people from Edge of Paradise (*THE* band that skipper plucked from my wishlist that made me cave in and book ).

Yeah there was the medical emergency, yeah there were sound issues and medical issues that screwed with the timings of the stages, but shit happens.

Still as I said on facebook, THE BEST 70K EVER besides the maiden voyage which, I'm sure other veterans will agree, will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

I know I said it multiple times to you in person Skipper but I say it again. Love you man, and I'll see you again next year 100%. That is a statistical certainty

That went fast!

The anticipation, the waiting, the mood and vibes, the chats. Always so interesting.
Then the build up, the codes, the booking. I hate not going.
I spoke to one good friend who was on 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 said he has zero interest in ever going back on broad again.
When I see the pics, the reports and hear about the experience, I wonder how some cruisers just give up on it.
It is way, way different to the first few boats, back when we had 2,000 fans. I get that bit.

Anyway, glad to hear the cruiser who was hospitalized is recovering.
I'm hearing different reports on that.
Whatever happened, just glad he's getting back to health.

One thing I love about this cruise is that it really is a coming together from right around the globe.
And I think back to what I said up top earlier, if you have zero interest in ever going back, I gotta say that every year, the cruise is different. If you had a shitty time, the next one could be your BEST ever!
