I'm still ruining natural selection as a Physician Assistant in the ER.
Starling wrote:For you old-timers, I’m the sister of Evil Dan, whom some of you may know (he’s a five- or six-timer, I think, plus Barge to Hell). I went on the boat for the first time in 2017, but I am quiet at first, so didn’t meet enough people!

What first got you into metal:
My brother has been into it since we were kids. I ignored most of it (unless it had funny lyrics) because it was my brother’s thing,
yuck. As an adult, I saw Metal Evolution on VH1 and fell in love with it, watched it a million times. He saw his opportunity to indoctrinate me, got me to an Iron Maiden concert years ago (easy gateway drug to metal), talked a ton about how much fun 70k is (and made me watch endless videos), and a few years later, here I am!
Play any instruments?
Piano, flute, piccolo (through university, at least, though I haven’t touched any of them in a long time)
Top 5 (rock and metal) bands:
I still feel like too much of a noob to pick favorites. I tend to like thrash, death, technical death. I try to be open-minded, but have discovered some pretty strong dislikes in certain sub-genres. To each his own.
What do you do?
Quality Manager and Senior Microbiologist for a hemodialysis company. I’ve worked in IT (many moons ago) also, but have been a scientist for the last 18 years or so in many fields (forensics, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food).
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I whine about the fact that I don’t have enough spare time. Also: Read books of all kinds, binge watch TV, watch movies, play video games (PS3, PS4). Crafty shit: knit, crochet, sew, write in journals with fancy colored pens. Talk to animals. Study serial killers. Make people laugh. Share too much on social media.
What deck are you on?
In 2017, I was on Deck 7 in the far back corner.
2018, not sure yet.
What’s a creepy thing I can say when I see you that no stranger should know and will weird you out that I do?
Randomly start talking to me about serial killers. I'll love it.

So basically, like stick shift for programming, lol. I only know enough vi to exit it without panicking.

You can ask if my pet snake (Atlas) is still dehydrated from uncommonly cold Florida winter.

Ask me if I managed to keep my Venus Fly Trap and Sundew alive. There aren't enough fucking bugs in my apartment and they don't like winter.
The Facebook group is a LOT though, and more of a mixed bag. Pretty much everyone here on the forum seems so chill! Also, now I might get one of those sweet Hail Satan "my name is" stickers!Jaimie38 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 28, 2018 10:46 am Welcome Astrid.. You certainly have jumped in with both feet! It's pretty quiet in the forum these days as the Facebook groups have kind of taken over--not like the old days! lol.
One of the best parts aboot the people here, is that they aren't the juiced up a holes that may be at your local shows.. people here are genuine, friendly and know insane amounts aboot the bands and the scene. Thet put on preparties,,arrange trips , help in every way possible and I have made many, many, long life friends from aroujd the world. Also, when you wear a 70k shirt at your local gigs,,, you become a rock star--- everyone is jealous!
Welcome, anthing you need to know or ask, feel free to ask anyone.
