Is that a typo for Sepultura's count?

Nope. Since they were announced (as of right now..so newer then the stats I published this morning)

208 people have chosen some must, might, or won't value for them
And of those 138 have given them a must rating for 66.35% must rating.

Total users, as of right now is 601

Why did you think the number was wrong? Or were you referring to something else?

Maybe I'm just missing the meaning of the Must Percentage definition. So, it's only the percentage of 'responses that are Must and not the highest number of Musts?

Yes, that is absolutely the case. If all the bands where announced at the same time, raw number would be fine, but with the staggered announcement process earlier announced bands would almost always have more votes then later bands.

Attention Newbies!!!!

One aspect of the 70,000 Tons cruise is there is no offical app for the cruise. This is a shame because with 60+ bands and over 200 events onboard how the hell are you going to keep track of it all!

Fear not, the 70K community has come to your rescue. For the 9th cruise in a row you can download the 70K Bands app for your iOS or Android phone or tablet. Every year over the last 9 cruises new features, improvements, and refinements have been made to the app, so this is now a well polished tool with lots of features and ease of use conviences added. The app is free, open source, and community maintained.

What features are offered

The app actually has 2 different feature sets, and you get both in the same tool
Pre-Cruise

You get timely push notifications to your device as bands are announced
You get a list of currently announced bands
You can click through to get details of those bands including
- Links to the Official Site, Metal Archives, Wikipedia, and Youtube for the band
- Ability to flag as Must See, Might See, or Wont See
- And after a bit (we need to write them), entertaining and informative descriptions of the bands
All of this is a native, multi language app

After the running order of all bands is announced (2-3 days before sail normally), the interface changes to the running order, and the feature set changes

- You get a list of all 200+ events on board, with events dropping of the active list as they end
- You get an alert 10 min before events you indicated you were interested in attending start (this can be customized)
- Optimized for being on a cruise ship with no, or poor internet access
- Ability to customize the schedule in multiple ways (by band preference, by show preference, etc)

There is a lot of functionality here built up over the years

All stats gathered by the app are 100% anonymous and are only used for community purposes.
Since I don't know your email or other personal data..nothing is really tracking you and nothing is EVER sold.

Looks like we are paused at 25 and who knows when more announcement will come..hopefully SOOOON.

Khalma and Emperor are back in the top spots, but it appears Sepultura has settled in at #3 and I believe they will stay in the top 5..for a bit at least.

Canada and Germany continue their yearly battle for the #2/#3 spot. Canada maintains its lead with Switzerland and the Netherlands now tied for the #4 slot

The user count has steadily risen from last week but is still less then 1/2 what I expect to see when we sail!

Just when I thought things were going to pause for a while, Andy comes back to life and announces a few new bands. That works for me!

The top 5 remain the same bands, but some position switching has taken place. Finntroll has joined the top 10 at #6, though newly announced bands often get a short-term boost. Let’s see if they are still there next week.

The user count is up again, as would be expected with continuing announcements. What is unexpected is that iOS and Android are tied 50/50, with both having 408 users. I am not sure I have ever seen that before. It’s always close to 50/50, but rarely is it exactly 50/50.

The same bands stay in the top 10, but with significant reshuffling, with Finntoll surprising me by rising to the #2 spot!

The user count is down by a little from last week, but with the lack of announcements for the last 2 weeks, that is not surprising.

Android is now in the lead over iOS, and that is not a surprise, as that is consistent with previous years. Though they are always close’ish to a 50/50 split.


We now have people from 47 different countries using the app!



I will likely skip next week unless there is something new to report. Last time I threatened to do that, Andy surprised us by announcing new bands, maybe this will happen again!!

So we got a new band announcement a few days ago, but for whatever reason, the boost to app launches was very minor. As a result, usage is down still, not a big deal though as things are still early.



While the bands in the top 10 remain consistent, the order has been reworked. Trouble did not crack the top 10. Kalmah stays on top, but Unleash the Archers moves up to the number 2 slot.


Android continues to push ahead of iOS, though I would expect the number to move closer to 50/50 once the user count moves up again.

So we got another new band announcement yesterday, so it looks like Andy wants to keep a slow but steady pace for the announcements. Works for me!

Swallow the Sun starts off strong, landing at number 6. Is this due to the Ballet Finland element or would they have landed there without that element? Not sure, but this is a strong start for sure. This drops Samael out of the top 10. Do keep in mind that new bands often get a bump as die-hard fans quickly press 'Must', but then fall a few places when other 'less enthusiastic' responses come in, so it is possible they could fall a few places by next week. How long will the once-a-week band announcements continue...only Andy knows. Stay tuned!

Candana is still ahead of Germany, but only by 1 user, so the gap has narrowed.

With an announcement 2 weeks in a row, the user count is up, which is always good to see.

I am still waiting for details from our pre-party hosts, though I know they are busy getting everything together for some awesome events. I will post details of all the pre-party happenings as soon as they have all the details ironed out and available...so look for that coming sooooon!

So the once-a-week announcement pace continues! Ihsahn does not make the top 10, but it is not far off from it.

The number 10 spot swapped out Decapitated for Samael, but other than that, the top 10 remains the same. That being said, there was significant shuffling of positions, with Kalmah staying on top.

Canada is still ahead of Germany and has widened the gap so it is no longer as close as it was.

The iOS/Android gap has narrowed substantially, with Android ahead by only 6 users, far less than 1%. Overall usage is flat for the most part, up by one user from last weeks number.

The top 10 bands remain pretty stable, with some minor position switching in the #2 spot. Decapitated knocking Samael out of the top 10, at least temporarily, is the only major change.
