We'll be sailing in international waters for a day and a half, then make port in Bimini, and then sail around for another day and a half before returning to Miami. It won't be "just one hour" of sailing.progsteph wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 1:58 pm hi all, well im a bit disappointed to sail for just one hour. i know its about the experience, the bands are also more important for me - but it has a bad taste i think, sailing around the corner. if it was for saving fuel, or to save money to get more expensive bands or saving us for higher pricing or whatever - but i guess its about saving money AND rising the price for US.
HEAVY BREATHING

Looks like it has changed already.mooyagi wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 4:22 pm https://www.royalcaribbean.com/the-healthy-sail-center
Just saw this link on the 70K FAQ page. Should give everyone a good idea at where covid protocols currently stand on the ship. Vaccines required, pre-cruise test not needed. Of course it could all change by early 2023.
Well, there could also be travel restrictions and such from bands' home countries, etc.
I don't need Elon Musk to see my browsing history. But depending on cost this could be helpful, especially when it comes to running order updates.slayergeek wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 8:14 am It looks like we will have improved internet connectivity on board Freedom Of The Sea when we sail!

Our ship was the first ship to get this!
I know not everyone cares, but for those that use the internet on the ship, faster connectivity can never be a bad thing!
I'm gonna pretend this is why we haven't had any announcements yet. Andy was waiting for the cruise to be open to everyone.Castroh wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 9:29 pmLooks like it has changed already.mooyagi wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 4:22 pm https://www.royalcaribbean.com/the-healthy-sail-center

“Unvaccinated travelers can join us*
Starting with September 5th departures, guests who are not vaccinated can sail on any cruise from the U.S. or Europe (*except itineraries that visit Canada or Bermuda).”
Andy can stop looking for vaccinated bands only now.
The cruise may be open to anyone but the US borders are not, at least not yet yet (just ask Novak Djokovic :o) so that may still limit some international bands...
I'm honestly not sure why the US is still holding out on this. There aren't that many countries left with the requirement. Figured it would've gone once they lifted all other covid related travel restrictions domestically but here we are. Hopefully it's not causing issues for booking. It is nice not having to carry my card around everywhere.
Tiny island, not a whole lot to do. Regarded as the "Sports Fishing Capital of the World" though.
It does look small, which is great to explore. I already found a place I want to visit: Blue Lagoon Beach, it is on the north/northeast side of North Bimini and it looks like paradise. Apparently you can only access to it by walking, there is a private resort now in the way
Longtime lurker, first time poster here. This above is what I had come to realize what will most likely happen. Time will tell.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 8:52 am https://70000tons.com/payment-schedule/
"For bookings until October 15, 2022 you may choose to:" ......
If you work backwards from that date, and allow 1 week for 'black' status to book, then 2 weeks for Gold, 2 weeks for silver....
That could indicate they hope for bookings to open early september, maybe first bands later this month?
Also interesting that they don't mention what the surcharge will be this cruise. They usually say, for example "70000TONS OF METAL® will collect USD 448.00 per Passenger for all Taxes,".....
This time it is just " 70000TONS OF METAL® will collect a fee per Passenger for all Taxes"
I gave up on 2020 because of that delay... when they started announcing bands, I remember the exchange rates were hitting negative records and travelling to USA was more expensive than ever at that timecowboy71 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 4:31 am Welcome lurker!! The only thing we can see with reasonable certainty is that we'll get bands and booking codes before October 15th.
I say "reasonable certainty" because, even then, there is absolutely nothing stopping them from changing that cut-off date
We could very well end up with a situation like 2020, where everthing happened very last minute, very rushed. Black booking codes one day, Gold the next, Silver the next, general public the next, then cut-off for the payment plan a few days later.
I however like to maintain a degree of optimism, and hope that we will find out prices and some bands within the next week or two :)
Thank you for the welcome. I've been checking the forums for some time now scouring for news but never got around to making an account until now since we're getting so close to band lists and ticket info.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 4:31 am Welcome lurker!! Things didn't get any better since then, but i'm earning more, so I can afford it this time.
But Andy should think more about people travelling from outside the US to Miami, we're dealing with much more variables and being able to plan in advance is extremely important
Even Dexter went to Bimini on his Slice Of Life boat from Miami
I almost booked it...cowboy71 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 8:47 pm The German Full Metal Cruise (scheduled Sept 2023) that went on sale this week sold out within hours.
So they are going to do an "encore" cruise IMMEDIATELY after the first one!
Wonder how many customers 70K are going to lose to that because they have dragged their heels too long?
Sadly, no :(
