Death Angel singer Mark Osegueda has been the singer for the new Kerry King band . How about bring Kerry King and band on 700000 Tons 2025 edition !! Also much time to straighten out the immigration issue with DRACONIAN , would be great for 2025 for them to be on the cruise also !!toby wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 8:07 amFrom your keyboard to Andy's ears, hopefully. I know. It's literally the only reason I added Kerry King to my wishlist. lolmetalforever wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 8:36 am Death Angel singer Mark Osegueda has been the singer for the new Kerry King band .
There was a rumour circulating the ship that skipper has several bay area thrash bands lined up for 2025.aleyeahed wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 6:17 am The '24 lineup was criminally light on Thrash. Interesting.Metaltrout wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:58 pm I've heard from a few sources that 2025 is the year Skipper finally realizes black metal exists. Apparently we are in for a big overcorrection to make up for past years.
How about more thrash just for the sake of a more well balanced lineup that might make some other people happy?
I mean, it wasn't too long ago that he booked Emperor as the top headliner, with Kampfar, Carach Angren, Ihsahn, and Moonsorrow (definitely a large helping of black metal in their sound and style) also part of that lineup. Some years are indeed light on BM, though, and I would say we are due for a year with more focus on it.Metaltrout wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:58 pm I've heard from a few sources that 2025 is the year Skipper finally realizes black metal exists. Uhmmm.... no
Well, forget everyone else then.... More thrash just so you can have less conflicts in your schedule!
Still no!
I'm not looking for thrash-centric, but 6 bands out of 60 would be cool.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 1:15 pm The problem with having a black metal-centric or thrash-centric lineup is that it is going to alienate a lot of Andy's core customers.
Looking at the current wishlists, which admittedly is still only a small sample size, but of the top 100 - 20% Melodeath, 20% power/symphonic. Only 10% black, and 6% thrash.
Again, only a small number (42) of requests so far, so maybe not truly representative. However looking at the 2024 figures when we had requests from 234 different people, the figures were very similar. 20% Melodeath, 25% power/symphonic. Again 10% black, and 8% thrash.
Right, or even 2-3 exciting names from each of thrash and black metal. Variety is one of the things I enjoy best about 70k. I love being able to hop from a Soen set, to a Dark Funeral Set, to an Exodus set, and then maybe Epica, and end the night with Aborted. So, I am SURE my wishlist has a lot more melodeath names on it than thrash or black, but I'd still like better representation from those genres as well. I think quite a few people are in a similar situation. You can still increase the thrash and black metal band counts while having plenty of room for Dallas' wishlist too.toby wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 7:30 amI'm not looking for thrash-centric, but 6 bands out of 60 would be cool.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 1:15 pm The problem with having a black metal-centric or thrash-centric lineup is that it is going to alienate a lot of Andy's core customers.

That would be a pretty fantastic mix, IMO.bodomdragon wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 12:52 pm Andy, we'll make it very easy for you:
6 Thrash Metal
6 Black Metal
6 Death Metal
6 Doom Metal
6 Melodeath
6 Power / Speed Metal
6 Prog Metal
6 Symphonic Metal
6 Classic Heavy Metal / Industrial / Hard Rock
6 Folk / Viking Metal
1 fun party band (Electric Callboy (I WISH!!!) / Nanowar / Trollfest / Powerglove / you name it)
And everyone happy :)

Of course. 100% black metal or bust
This is the way.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 2:42 pmAnd people would still complaintoby wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 1:13 pmThat would be a pretty fantastic mix, IMO.bodomdragon wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 12:52 pm Andy, we'll make it very easy for you:

I think 2015 might have been close to Thrash-centric, or as close as we've gotten. I count 10+ bands that are thrash in that lineup (some others I am less familiar with, but think they may be Thrash as well).aleyeahed wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 6:22 ambodomdragon wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 12:52 pm Andy, we'll make it very easy for you:

A thrash or black metal-centric fest I don't see happening,
Bang-on there -there is a reason why the 2015 lineup was my least liked of ALL 70K lineups so far
2015 was also probably my least favourite lineup, but saying "only 2 Power Metal bands" seems a little bit unfair to me, unless you are VERY strict with what you consider Power Metal :)
Yeah the ones you list are not ones I consider power metal, but as always exact genre is widely open to interpretation :) "Power Metal Adjacent" maybe a good analogy for thembodomdragon wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 2:35 pm2015 was also probably my least favourite lineup, but saying "only 2 Power Metal bands" seems a little bit unfair to me, unless you are VERY strict with what you consider Power Metal :)
Triosphere are Power Metal all the way, ok, with a Prog touch.
Alestorm are a strange blend that to me is more Power than Folk or anything else.
Refuge are Power / Speed Metal.
Riot V are mostly Power Metal.
But again... definitely my least favourite lineup so far.
Refuge is essentially Rage, and I don't know in what dimension we aren't considering Rage to be power metal.cowboy71 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 3:14 pmYeah the ones you list are not ones I consider power metal, but as always exact genre is widely open to interpretation :) "Power Metal Adjacent" maybe a good analogy for thembodomdragon wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 2:35 pm2015 was also probably my least favourite lineup, but saying "only 2 Power Metal bands" seems a little bit unfair to me, unless you are VERY strict with what you consider Power Metal :)

Triosphere - i just consider them prog
Alestorm - pirate/folk
Refuge - Speed or Trad/Dad
Riot V - heavy/speed
The most important dimension. Mine.
Please Andy, DGM, for fuck's sake, please!!!cowboy71 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 9:16 pm If you look at the Metallian Productions roster (http://metallianprod.com/artists/), they have had a BIG strike rate the last 2 years:
2023
Deathless Legacy
Fractal Universe
2024
Acod
Rising Steel
Vision Divine
Waltari
Thinking surely multiple again next year? Would love to see Secret Sphere and Rhapsody of Fire (oh and a return of Deathless Legacy!)
