Death Angel singer Mark Osegueda has been the singer for the new Kerry King band . How about bring Kerry King and band on 700000 Tons 2025 edition !! Also much time to straighten out the immigration issue with DRACONIAN , would be great for 2025 for them to be on the cruise also !!

There was a rumour circulating the ship that skipper has several bay area thrash bands lined up for 2025.

I was hanging by the merch area for my number to come up and there was a guy talking to a group of dudes for awhile. He was definitely in Witherfall or associated with them. I don't listen to them, so I'm not really familiar with them but he was talking about opening for Sonata Arctica on the acoustic tour. Anyway he out right said to these dudes that they had to come back next year because it looked like Witherfall was definitely playing the boat in 2025.

I mean, it wasn't too long ago that he booked Emperor as the top headliner, with Kampfar, Carach Angren, Ihsahn, and Moonsorrow (definitely a large helping of black metal in their sound and style) also part of that lineup. Some years are indeed light on BM, though, and I would say we are due for a year with more focus on it.

Looking at the current wishlists, which admittedly is still only a small sample size, but of the top 100 - 20% Melodeath, 20% power/symphonic. Only 10% black, and 6% thrash.

Again, only a small number (42) of requests so far, so maybe not truly representative. However looking at the 2024 figures when we had requests from 234 different people, the figures were very similar. 20% Melodeath, 25% power/symphonic. Again 10% black, and 8% thrash.

Right, or even 2-3 exciting names from each of thrash and black metal. Variety is one of the things I enjoy best about 70k. I love being able to hop from a Soen set, to a Dark Funeral Set, to an Exodus set, and then maybe Epica, and end the night with Aborted. So, I am SURE my wishlist has a lot more melodeath names on it than thrash or black, but I'd still like better representation from those genres as well. I think quite a few people are in a similar situation. You can still increase the thrash and black metal band counts while having plenty of room for Dallas' wishlist too.

I like the cut of your Jib, but you already knew that

A thrash or black metal-centric fest I don't see happening, but having a few more bands of at least the former seems in the cards. I'll admit to being a little surprised to see thrash so little requested, but it is a fairly small sample size and while I don't consume thrash regularly, it is easily one of the most fun genres live. And while I do consume black metal regularly, it is easily one of the most inconsistent and frankly exhausting genres live. I went to Beyond the Gates a couple of years ago and after 3 days of constant black metal Sodom played and were an absolute shot in the arm, exactly what the fest needed.

I think 2015 might have been close to Thrash-centric, or as close as we've gotten. I count 10+ bands that are thrash in that lineup (some others I am less familiar with, but think they may be Thrash as well).

Refuge are Power / Speed Metal.
Riot V are mostly Power Metal.
